When Royston Animal Welfare needed funds to cover the cost of running cat and dog pens they asked the Animal Rescue Foundation for help – and were very pleased to receive a total of £10,500 over two years.
This was enough for the Barnsley-based charity to run four cat pens and one dog kennel for a year at the commercial accommodation and fostering facilities they fund annually as they do not have any of their own.
The charity rehomes dogs they take from kennels for strays when the obligatory seven days are up and they are at risk of being put down, while their cats are either strays or have been handed in by previous owners.
The animals receive veterinary attention whilst in the the charity’s care, and are kept safe until the time comes that they can be re-homed, however long it takes. Both cats and dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, flea-treated and wormed before going to their new homes.
